Bruce’s approach to law is as responsive to his clients’ emerging business challenges as his work ethic and commitment to clients are time-tested and true.
“A business’s strength has to do with the people behind it, he says. “Often the key role of legal counsel is to provide flexible support between the structure of a business and its creative talent, to permit it remain stable in the face of fluctuations in the economy. Sometimes this entails a profound understanding of the legal climate, and other times just plain street smarts.”
When he joined the firm in 2005, Bruce brought with him the skills and experience of having practiced for 17 years with a larger Bay Street law firm.
His diverse business law practice is thriving, sharpened by his appetite to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals on time and on budget.
Recent transactions in which he has been involved include industrial and commercial acquisitions and dispositions, subdivision of land, commercial leasing, residential real estate; negotiation and structuring of business transactions, including corporate acquisitions, dispositions, restructurings and reorganizations.
He has taught Business Law and Real Estate Law in the Law Society’s Bar Admission Course; The Law of Information Technology at the University of Waterloo; and Computers in the Practice of Law with the Law Society’s Continuing Education Department.
His expertise is valued by clients, colleagues and students.
Sports occupy a large part of his heart. A past director and officer of a number of competitive speed-skating clubs, he has competed and medaled at the provincial and national and competed at the international level.
